it's party time...

This is always a favourite time of the month for me, Release Day over a Kellie Stamps.

Head on over to pre-order the  "Eat More Cake" clear stamp set or if you are a digital fan then you can get your hands on the "Eat More Cake" digital set right now.

This is the first of a few projects that I will be sharing with you over the next few days.  First up, I am sharing a birthday card that I created using the digital stamp set.  Although I love the clear stamps, using the digital stamps gives me so much more freedom to create lots of different things.

For this project I used the digital stamp set and my Silhouette Cameo to cut out the balloons and to print and cut the words "celebrate" & "happy birthday".

So happy how this turned out although I did feel the pressure on this card.  My son asked if I could make him a card as he had been invited to a party.
His comment "I need a card for tonight Mum, but it has to be really good, she's a really good friend."

Boys!!

Comic style...

My son went to Oz Comic Con over the weekend and he managed to get some great photos.  I got this idea that I wanted to create a layout like a comic.  I spent a little while thinking about it as I wasn't quite sure how I would go about it.  But I was determined to find a way and I was thrilled with how it turned out.

I opened up the Silhouette store a searched "comic" to see if any images would come up that might help me get my layout started.  I found a cut file for the comic strip and then found a few "super hero" images and words.  Some were cut files and some were sketch pen files.  Then, before I knew it my layout was coming together.  Instead of using the files as cut files and used my sketch pen for the whole thing as was completely amazed at how well it came out.  I even added my journaling using the sketch pen.

I then measured the areas where I wanted to place photos, cropped the photos in photoshop and had them printed out.

I honestly love this layout so much.  I can't believe that it looks exactly as it did in my head.

I have listed below the Silhouette files that I used for this layout:-

Comic strip frame by Silhouette
Super heroes sketch by Cali Arroyo
Bam by Silhouette
Pow by Silhouette
Zap by Silhouette
PN In a Galaxy Far Away - font by ScrapNfonts
LD Cute lines by Lettering Delights

Happy 18th Birthday...

On Wednesday we celebrated my daughters 18th birthday.  It was such a wonderful day which started with going out for breakfast and ending with a dinner for friends and family at her favourite restaurant.

Several weeks ago I ordered "HB2U custom mini flair buttons" from Feed Your Craft because they would be the perfect addition to add to some projects that I wanted to do for my daughter.  These mini flairs are the best because you can have any age added.  Here are the projects that I made using these mini flairs.

This was her present - I cut some purple wrapping out to make two long strips. I then added some tissue paper which I cut a fringe into.  I used a paper doily plus a scalloped circle cut from a Stampin Up punch and cut the horseshoes out using my silhouette cameo. I put them all together to make a ribbon similar to the ones given out at horse riding events as my daughter is right into her horses.  The little acrylic heart is from Colorcast Designs.

My next project was to make her birthday card.  I decided to keep to the same theme as I liked the way they all looked together.  I cut the 18 card out using my silhouette.

Then I moved onto the cake topper.  Again I kept to the theme.
This project was very close to my heart so I wanted to make sure that it was personal and beautiful.

One of the best things about these mini flairs is that they stick to glitter paper really well.  I did not have to apply any extra glue which is what I usually have to do when using this glitter paper.

I couldn't have been more happy with they way they all came together.
But in the end, it was all about my daughter and she loved them so that's what really counts.

Now to go and sit, relax with a cuppa and flip through all the wonderful photos of my daughters special day.
Love me :-)

Wednesday is her favourite day of the week...

Every Wednesday my daughter has horse riding and every Wednesday morning she gets up and says the same thing - Wednesday is my favourite day of the week.

Last week at horse riding they went on a trail ride (her favourite part of horse riding).  It gets dark so much earlier now so getting good photos of her riding is getting harder.  I snapped a picture of them riding off hoping to be able to document her love of trail rides.

When she came back from the ride the first thing she said was "Oh Mum it was amazing, we got to canter up a hill really fast, it was magic".  Its things like this that I really want to remember and that I want her to remember too.

Ali Edwards did this layout using the pie chart pieces from the "click" kit and I was keen to try this out using the photo from horse riding.  I couldn't have been more happy with how it turned out.  I didn't have any alphabet stamps that were big enough so I cut out my title from vellum using my cameo.  I then stitched it into place.  I also love Ali's tip about using washi tape around the edge of your layout, love this idea.

I think I am getting the hang of this circle thing LOL!!

Have a great weekend

The invites are done...

My daughter is in her final year of High School this year and although it comes with lots of study and lots of stress it also comes with lots of fun things.  Her Year 12 Ball is now only weeks away and we are busy getting everything together.  The dress has arrived (we bought it online so there was alot of praying and crossing fingers that it would arrive ok) and it is stunning and hair and makeup are booked.

It is tradition that the ball attendees gather together prior to leaving for the ball to celebrate "Pre's" as they call it.  They gather, drink softdrinks (no alcohol allowed), have photos taken and then wait for their limousine to arrive to whisk them off to the ball.  Last  night I finished off their invites...

I was totally inspired by Stephanie Bryan and her sweet invitations she made using the "Open Book" frames from Maggie Holmes.  I couldn't get any of these frames so I used by cameo to cut out these cute Polaroid frames in chipboard and then I cut them out again in pattern paper.  I decided to do each one different as each of her friends are different and I thought it would be something fun.  I finished each one off with a gold banner (cut from glitter paper from Stampin Up) and a wood veneer letter (from studio calico) representing their first name.  I also wanted to keep the design simple as the invites were going to both males and females. I then attached a piece of white cardstock with basic info typed on the front and the rest of the details on the back, like address etc.

Thanks for stopping by and if you have any questions please ask, I really don't mind.

Love me :-)
